Who am I?
WHO IS WATERS DESIGNS?
My name is Elizabeth (Liz) Waters. I am a freelance graphic designer with over 30 years of experience. I worked in three graphic design agencies and for a couple of printers before branching out on my own. I began freelancing full-time in 2014. My business is WatersDesigns and I do graphic design, web design, and photo restorations.
I am proficient in Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and others. I have designed and produced a huge range of printed and digital media. Examples include books, flyers, brochures, menus, signage, stationery, reports, presentations, memorial stationery, newsletters, and more. I build websites using WordPress. As a designer, I can make them look great, as well as functional and ultimately user-friendly.
Photo restoration became a passion in my early days of learning Adobe Photoshop (25+ years ago). I can still be found in the Yellow Pages under Endangered Photos Restorations. To begin with, I make a high-quality digital copy of the damaged original, and from there, I restore it to its former glory.
Please contact me if I can be of service to you, and thanks for reading my bio.

A DIFFERENT SORT OF WORK
A DIFFERENT SORT OFÂ WORK
In September for the past few years, I have taken a break from graphic and web design and travelled to Cambodia to do something different. Volunteering with Restore One charity, I run a program with the high school girls during their school holidays. Girls from rural villages are often sent to Phnom Penh to work, but the risks for young unchaperoned girls are huge. By giving the girls the opportunity to work from the safety of their village means they are able to help their families financially, and then go back to their education in the new school year.
The girls make Christmas decorations, and we bring them back to Australia to sell for $5 each. After paying the girls, the Christmas Decoration Project profits go into the running of Restore One School and paying teachers’ wages. The girls not only earn money for their families but their work helps to pay their teachers as well.
In 2016 we began by making hearts. 2017 we made stars, 2018 Christmas baubles, and in 2019 we made gingerbread houses out of felt, buttons, and ribbon. In 2020 and 2021 I could not go because of Covid-19 restrictions, but the girls made gorgeous little hearts and Christmas stockings. If you are interested in helping this project financially, either by buying decorations or donating to the project please contact me or donate via the Restore One website.
