Book Design
STYLE, FORMAT AND SEQUENCE
The layout and design of books involves deciding how readers will visually experience the book. It involves styling the chapter headings and margins, finding an appropriate font that will suit the style of the book, and using correct spacing so as to make the overall look pleasing to the eye. Different genres require different styling.
The cover design is perhaps the most important part, as the cover can make someone decide to read further or put the book down.
Eisteddfod to Stage:
THE RYDE EISTEDDFOD
30 AMAZING YEARS
Well-known author, Ann Howard came to me with hundreds of pages of copy, photos, and articles from her research into the Ryde Eisteddfod. It was the culmination of over 1,000 hours of work for her and it needed to be compiled into a book. The project involved scanning over 120 photographs, taking the copy she had written, and turning it into a beautiful book.

“Liz Waters of WatersDesigns has superbly designed the layout of my book The Rats’ Tale. It was a pleasure working with Liz, a most talented lady. I wish her great success.”
“Elizabeth Waters has recently worked on my new book An Australian Doctor’s Story. She has turned an amateur’s offering into a professionally produced book. Photographs that were taken over a century ago have been greatly enhanced and now look as if a professional photographer took them one week ago. She has also formatted the narrative in a highly professional style.
Most importantly Elizabeth conducts her work in a competent business-like manner all with a smile and lady-like charm. Next time I plan to get her to help me write a book with her as a co-author!”
